  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to TEAMtalk, Wrexham are no longer pursuing Leicester star Vardy but could move for Leeds forward Bamford. The report adds that newly-promoted Premier League sides Leeds and Burnley are 'possibilities' for the 38-year-old Foxes striker - who has also been credited with interest from Celtic and Rangers.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Vardy announced he would end his glittering Leicester spell when his contract expires in the summer after guiding the Foxes to Premier League and FA Cup glory. The former England international wants to keep playing at the highest level but it remains to be seen where he will go next. While a move to newly-promoted Championship side Wrexham seems off the table, the Welsh team being linked with Bamford is not too surprising after signing experienced forwards Jay Rodriguez and Steven Fletcher in recent years. They are an ambitious team with Premier League aspirations, so transfer rumours like these are to be expected.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The report adds that Leeds are on the lookout for a new striker, to complement top scorer Joel Piroe, meaning Bamford will slip further down the pecking order at Elland Road. His contract expires in 2026 so while teams may get him for a smaller fee, his injury record in recent seasons is a concern.
