New position for Mason Greenwood? Roberto De Zerbi admits he could make 'sacrifice' ahead of crunch Marseille clash with Monaco

Marseille face Monaco on Saturday in a crucial game in the race for Champions League qualification. De Zerbi spoke about his team selection ahead of the match and admitted he's worried about defensive issues and could also be tempted to re-jig his attack by shifting Greenwood out wide.

Greenwood has been a potent attacking force for Marseille this season. He's scored 16 goals in 28 Ligue 1 games for the French side, only PSG's Ousmane Dembele has more goals in the French top flight this season. Although he has come in for criticism recently from De Zerbi, he was in the goals last time out with an impressive strike in a 3-2 win over Toulouse.

The coach told reporters: "I spoke with [Amine] Harit this week too. He's been out since October and hasn't been very available. He feels pretty good in that position. Putting Greenwood on the wing is possible. But you're keeping him away from the goal and asking him to make a defensive sacrifice. All the strikers defend, but he can't do something he can't do. Rabiot has to play higher up, in midfield; he's unique. The competition is high."

De Zerbi also spoke about recent mistakes and his team's attitude, adding: "I think everyone makes mistakes. The goals against Toulouse are different. The second one came from a set piece. That's also the characteristics of our team. We don't have many defenders at the moment, and we have players who need to develop in that position. We also need to work on our attitude. We may have lacked aggression too. We know there are few defenders in the team at the moment, so everyone needs to do something extra."

PSG have already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title but second-placed Marseille can move five points clear of Monaco, who sit in third, with a victory at the Stade Louis II.
