  1. Never write off Lewandowski! Barca tighten grip on title race

Barcelona moved one step closer to defending their La Liga crown as Robert Lewandowski came off the bench to net a late winner in Saturday's 2-1 victory over 10-man Atletico Madrid. Marcus Rashford had earlier got himself on the scoresheet for the Blaugrana as they moved seven points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table following Los Blancos' loss to Mallorca earlier in the day.

  2. Another trophy gone for Arsenal! White & Jesus flop in FA Cup

Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship outfit Southampton on Saturday, losing 2-1 at St Mary's. The pressure was on the Gunners to book a return to Wembley having been beaten by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final a fortnight ago, but their hopes of winning a domestic cup competition were dashed for another season in dramatic circumstances.

  3. Chelsea pummel Port Vale - but Palmer goal drought goes on

Chelsea put a week filled with controversy to one side to destroy Port Vale in their FA Cup quarter-final tie, prevailing 7-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to avoid a cup upset. The Blues were plunged into crisis after head coach Liam Rosenior confirmed vice-captain Enzo Fernandez had been suspended for two games for comments made about potentially joining Real Madrid, while Marc Cucurella was also reprimanded for similar sentiments about Barcelona and criticising the club hierarchy's blueprint for success.

  4. Mbappe left frustrated in dismal pre-Bayern defeat

Real Madrid weren't clinical enough at one end and were exposed at the other as they fell to a shock, 2-1 defeat against Mallorca on Saturday that lands a massive blow to their La Liga title hopes. Kylian Mbappe had chances aplenty, but the Mallorca defence held firm. Madrid's backline, by contrast, did not, which proved to be the difference on the day - and might be decisive in the title race, too.

  5. Hat-trick hero Haaland leads the way as City run riot

Erling Haaland scored his first hat-trick of the season as Manchester City demolished Liverpool 4-0 in a practically perfect FA Cup quarter-final tie at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland bagged a penalty late in the first half and soon followed it with a header to complete a wonderful team move from Pep Guardiola's side, who stormed into the FA Cup semi-finals for an eighth consecutive season.

  6. Salah & Van Dijk have shockers to pile pressure on Slot

Liverpool crashed out of the FA Cup on Saturday as they fell to a 4-0 quarter-final defeat at Manchester City that heaps more pressure on manager Arne Slot. Despite playing some nice football at times, the Reds were undone in the space of 18 minutes either side of half-time as a hat-trick from Erling Haaland and an Antoine Semenyo strike sealed City's spot in the semi-finals.

  7. Thompson wasteful as Chelsea UWCL dream dies

Chelsea were knocked out of the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday after failing to overturn a 3-1 aggregate deficit to Arsenal, winning 1-0 in the second leg of their quarter-final. The Blues gave themselves too much to do after their defeat at the Emirates Stadium last week and their wastefulness in front of goal is to blame for another failed European campaign.

  8. Job done! Wubben-Moy & Van Domselaar stand tall for Arsenal

Arsenal's Women's Champions League title defence remains well and truly on track after the Gunners withstood Chelsea's attempts at a comeback on Wednesday, falling to a narrow and late 1-0 defeat to win 3-2 on aggregate. It felt like the Blues had to start fast and score early to stand any chance of overcoming the deficit, and so once Arsenal had prevented them from doing exactly that, progression to the semi-finals rarely looked in doubt.

  9. Brave United undone by Bayern as defensive tactics fall short

Manchester United's Women's Champions League adventure came to a dramatic end on Wednesday, as Bayern Munich staged a late comeback to beat the Red Devils 2-1 on the night and 5-3 on aggregate. Marc Skinner's side started well in Germany and took a deserved early lead through Melvine Malard, but a defensive approach to the second half proved extremely costly as United succumbed to two late goals that sent the German champions through to the semi-finals, where they will likely face Barcelona.

  10. Bruno thrives & Felix fires for Ronaldo-less Portugal

Bruno Fernandes grabbed two assists and Joao Felix got on the scoresheet as Portugal saw off the United States, 2-0, on Tuesday. The Selecao grabbed goals either side of half-time, and were disciplined in between to ease to a win in Atlanta. Manager Roberto Martinez would have liked to have had Cristiano Ronaldo at his disposal, but he will take heart from the fact that his side got the job done without their main man.

  11. Palmer & Foden among England flops in woeful Japan loss

England's last game before the end of the 2025-26 club season saw them lose 1-0 at home to Japan in a friendly on Tuesday. Thomas Tuchel made 10 changes to the side that started their 1-1 draw with Uruguay last Friday, slotting in most of his preferred players that are expected to go to the World Cup - minus the unfit Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham - but they produced a disjointed performances that raised further questions over their chances of glory this summer.

  12. No Ronaldo, no fun, as Portugal settle for drab scoreless draw

Portugal were solid defensively but offered little going forward, and were forced to settle for a scoreless draw against a much-changed Mexico with Cristiano Ronaldo sidelined due to injury. Roberto Martinez's men had the majority of the ball, but little concrete to show for it. The two teams combined for three shots on target over the course of 90 forgettable minutes.

  13. Russo paints north London red with 22-minute hat-trick

A first-half hat-trick from Alessia Russo powered Arsenal to a 5-2 win over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Women's Super League on Saturday. The Gunners have one eye on their Champions League quarter-final with Chelsea having beaten the Blues 3-1 in the first leg on Tuesday before heading to Stamford Bridge this coming midweek, and ensured they are on track to qualify for next season's edition with a thumping victory back in domestic action.

  14. Miedema stars as Man City run riot at Old Trafford

Vivianne Miedema stole the show as Manchester City ran riot at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, humbling Manchester United in a dominant 3-0 win to take one big step towards their first Women's Super League title in 10 years. Two headers in two first half minutes from Miedema got City off to a flying start and established a comfortable lead that would never slip, as Kerstin Casparij wrapped things up after the break to move Andree Jeglertz's side 11 points clear at the top of the table.

  15. White endures rollercoaster return in England's ugly Uruguay draw

Ben White experienced all manner of emotions as he unexpectedly played the lead role in England's uninspiring 1-1 draw with Uruguay. The full-back was booed by his own fans when he was brought on and again after he gave the Three Lions the lead from a corner. He was then subjected to yet further criticism when his rash tackle led to a penalty from which Federico Valverde equalised in injury time.

  16. Brazil's main men flop in dire friendly loss to ten-man France

Brazil's main men fell flat as the Selecao turned in an underwhelming performance against France in a forgettable 2-1 loss. The Selecao were poor at both ends of the pitch, and languid in between, and only really showed attacking intent when it was too late. A late goal from Bremer was rather flattering as Carlo Ancelotti's men were easily dealt with by Les Bleus, who played most of the second half with ten men.

  17. Man Utd on brink of UWCL exit as Harder proves familiar foe

Manchester United will need to win in Germany next week to continue their maiden Women's Champions League adventure, after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Bayern in the first leg of this quarter-final clash on Wednesday night. The Red Devils showed great resilience to twice fight back from a goal down, with them seemingly on for a draw that would give them a greater chance of progressing, until Momoko Tanikawa's late strike settled the matter in favour of the German champions instead.

  18. James brings the magic but Chelsea on brink of UWCL exit

Chelsea's dreams of winning a first-ever Women's Champions League title hang by a thread after losing 3-1 to rivals and holders Arsenal in the first leg of their quarter-final. Both sides' flailing Women's Super League campaigns means the importance of their European exploits have only increased, and it is the Gunners who hold the advantage heading into next week's second leg at Stamford Bridge.

  19. Russo & Kelly put Arsenal on verge of UWCL semis

Arsenal's run to last year's Women's Champions League trophy was characterised by astonishing comebacks but it doesn't look like the Gunners will need one to continue their title defence beyond the quarter-final stage, after beating Chelsea 3-1 in the first leg of their all-English last eight tie on Tuesday night. Goals from Stina Blackstenius and Chloe Kelly allowed the reigning European champions to take an advantage into next week's meeting at Stamford Bridge, in which they will only need to avoid defeat to reach the semi-finals.

  20. Vini's derby double keeps Madrid's title hopes alive

Vinicius Jr scored twice while Federico Valverde again found the net as Real Madrid saw off Atletico Madrid, 3-2, in a frantic derby on Sunday. At no point was either side truly in control of proceedings, yet Real were clinical at the right moments, and despite finishing the game with 10 men following a red card for Valverde, were good value for a win that keeps them firmly in La Liga's title race.

  21. The O'Reilly final! Local lad delivers Carabao glory to City

Nico O'Reilly etched his name into Manchester City folklore with a stunning double in the space of four minutes to inspire his side to a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final. Born in Manchester and raised in City's academy, O'Reilly pounced on a sloppy piece of goalkeeping from Kepa Arrizabalaga to give Pep Guardiola's side the edge in a cagey encounter at Wembley on the hour-mark.

  22. Another Carabao nightmare for Kepa! Error costs Arsenal in final

Arsenal's six-year wait for a trophy will go on for at least a few months more after they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. The Gunners had been tipped to win an unprecedented quadruple, but they fell short in their first attempt to claim some silverware this season, with Mikel Arteta being defeated by mentor Pep Guardiola.

  23. Araujo the Barca hero on Raphinha & Yamal off days

Barcelona maintained their stranglehold on La Liga's title race on Sunday, though they were made to work hard for their 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano. Ronald Araujo scored the only goal of the game for the Catalans, but disappointing performances from their all star attack meant they were indebted to yet more stunning saves from goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

  24. Rosenior in crisis as Sanchez & Fofana drop stinkers

Chelsea were humbled in their first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, falling 3-0 to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday evening. The Blues were hoping to bounce back from Tuesday's Champions League defeat by the same scoreline to Paris Saint-Germain but instead came unstuck against David Moyes' Toffees, who moved to within two points of Liam Rosenior's side in the table.
