RB Leipzig have arrested a difficult start to the season with two convincing victories that have quietened early questions about Martin Demichelis and shifted the mood at the club. The 6:0 demolition of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, driven by a Christopher Nkunku masterclass, was followed by a disciplined 1:0 Champions League win over PSV Eindhoven, with Brajan Gruda scoring the only goal. Two clean sheets in succession have given Leipzig real momentum after a rocky opening that included a 1:4 defeat at Como and back-to-back away losses in the league.

The turnaround has also cooled speculation over the manager's future. Reports from Sport Bild and Sky had linked Julian Nagelsmann with a return to the club where he coached from 2019 to 2021, and Sky suggested Nagelsmann was open to the idea. Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer Roger Schmidt dismissed the reports firmly on ZDF, saying the name had never come up internally, and stressed the club's commitment to continuity on the bench. Leipzig sit fifth in the Bundesliga table with nine points from five games, a respectable position that looks far healthier than the mood suggested just weeks ago.

One complication remains in the squad. Winger Johan Bakayoko served a disciplinary suspension after repeated punctuality issues, though Demichelis confirmed the matter is resolved. Leipzig now travel to the Allianz Arena to face Bayern Munich on Saturday, a fixture that will test whether this renewed confidence can hold against the toughest possible opposition.
