Sunderland team news

One of the most active sides in the transfer market, Sunderland have brought in the likes of experienced Granit Xhaka, Habib Diarra and Simon Adingra.

Eliezer Mayenda is also among the key players for the hosts, and the Spaniard should be part of the attack.

Meanwhile, all of Romaine Mundle, Dennis Cirkin, Aji Alese, Luke O'Nien and Leo Hjelde will miss the opener for the hosts. Furthermore, Arthur Masuaku and Marc Guiu raise doubts.

West Ham team news

Graham Potter could hand debuts to El Hadji Malick Diouf, Kyle Walker-Peters, Callum Wilson and Mads Hermansen, although the Irons' manager has not particularly conceded that Hermansen will start in between the sticks following Lukasz Fabianski's departure.

Academy graduate Freddie Potts featured in the pre-season after returning from his loan spell with Portsmouth.

Crysencio Summerville and George Earthy are ruled out with injuries.
