Barcelona scout Getafe defender Djene


Barcelona sent sporting director Ramon Planes to scout Getafe defender Djene Dakonam, according to Marca.

Barca have been linked with a number of centre-backs in January due to injuries suffered by Thomas Vermaelen and Samuel Umtiti.

Djene would be open to a move to the Camp Nou, but has yet to receive any offer from Ernesto Valverde's side

Everton to pursue permanent Gomes deal


Everton director of football Marcel Brands says the club will attempt to sign midfielder Andre Gomes on a permanent deal from Barcelona.

Portgual international Gomes has impressed in a blue shirt since joining on a season-long loan from Barca on transfer deadline day in August.

"He adapted so quickly, he's a very smart guy and I've known him quite a long time and always liked him as a player," Brands was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo. "I'm so happy he is here and our biggest concern is now keeping him."

Umtiti injury could force Barca into the market - Valverde


The injury to Samuel Umtiti could force Barcelona to become active in the January window, according to coach Ernesto Valverde.

Umtiti returned from injury last week against Atletico Madrid, but suffered a setback and was sent to Qatar for treatment over his troublesome knee

And while Valverde hopes to have Thomas Vermaelen back from injury soon, he admitted Umtiti's situation could prompt the club to look for cover in January.

Claudio Ranieri has praised Jose Mourinho, revealing the embattled Manchester United boss was the first manager to call him following his appointment at Fulham.

After another week of questionable results – a scoreless draw against Crystal Palace and a late victory against Young Boys – the critics have unsurprisingly lined-up to question Mourinho’s Old Trafford future.

But Ranieri is not one of them, saying Mourinho is a great coach and a man possessing great character.

Icardi not interested in Madrid switch


Mauro Icardi says it is not the right time to consider a transfer to Real Madrid as he is determined to win a trophy with Inter.

The Argentina striker has often been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and recent reports have suggested Madrid will try to sign him when the transfer window opens in January.

Icardi, though, insists he is not thinking about leaving San Siro.

Tottenham and Manchester City are both interested in signing Toulouse teenager Adil Taoui, per Foot Mercato.

Real Madrid keen to avoid Sancho situation with Brahim Diaz


Real Madrid are accelerating their attempts to sign Manchester City youngster Brahim Diaz on a free transfer, reports AS.

The 19-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season and Real are keen to secure his services.

They remain wary of a repeat of their pursuit of Jadon Sancho, who eventually rejected a move to Real in favour of joining Borussia Dortmund due to assurances of first-team football.

Matthijs De Ligt wants assurances from Barcelona that he will be a first-team player if he joins the club, per Sport.

The Ajax defender has attracted serious interest from the Catalan club, along with Manchester City, PSG, Bayern Munich and Juventus, but is currently unsure of his next move.

Tottenham almost signed Isco from Real Madrid two years ago, per the Daily Mirror.

The Spain international was the subject of a loan bid from Mauricio Pochettino's side, but then-Real manager Zinedine Zidane stepped in to ensure that the midfielder remained at Santiago Bernabeu.

The Red Devils saw their world-record offer rejected

Napoli have rejected Manchester United's €103 million (£91m/$116m) bid for Kalidou Koulibaly, per Corriere dello Sport.

The Premier League club were keen to make Koulibaly the most expensive defender in history, as they looked to shore up their backline.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis immediately rejected the offer, however, and intends to retain the 27-year-old.

Chelsea interested in Pulisic


Chelsea are interested in signing Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund, Goal understands.

The Blues are keen to negotiate to ensure they don't pay the £70 million ($89m) demanded by the Bundesliga leaders, but they want to secure a long-term replacement for Eden Hazard amid doubts over his future.

The Denmark international has seen his playing time diminish in 2018-19.

Chelsea have turned down an approach from Barcelona for defender Andreas Christensen, the Mirror reports. 

With Samuel Umtiti injured the Catalans are looking for reinforcements for their back line in January, and targeted the Denmark international. 

Though Christensen has seen his minutes drop this season compared to 2017-18, the Blues are still unwilling to part with the 22-year-old.

Collins to sign five-week deal with Villa


James Collins is set to sign a five-week deal at Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mail.

The free agent defender has been without a team since leaving West Ham last season, and has been training with Villa since September.

Collins, 35, became a fan favourite at Villa during his time at the club between 2009 and 2012.

Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi has told the club he will leave if he is not granted more first-team football, according to The Guardian. 

The 18-year-old is seen as a star of the future but has made just three senior appearances for the Blues this season, scoring his first goal for the club in Thursday's Europa League win over PAOK.

With interest from clubs in Spain and Germany, Hudson-Odoi is ready to play regular senior football, whether that is at Chelsea or elsewhere.

The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, having made just one Premier League appearance since September. 

United are willing to accept a loan-to-buy move for Bailly, with a price tag set around €30 million (£27m/$34m).

Luiz wants to stay at Chelsea despite China interest


Chelsea defender David Luiz wants to remain with the club despite interest from clubs in China, according to UOL Esporte. 

The 31-year-old's contract expires at the end of the current season, and he has returned to prominence under Maurizio Sarri this term after falling out of favour under Antonio Conte. 

Luiz's representatives recently went to China to gauge interest in their client, but the Brazilian has told them he prefers to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
