How to watch the F1 Canadian Grand Prix 2025: Weekend schedule, TV & streaming links and more

It’s been a torturous two-week break, to say the least, for F1 fans. We were all left craving more following highly entertaining back-to-back race weekends in Italy, Monaco and Spain. The 2025 F1 season has been a stellar one to date, and the wait for the next instalment of thrilling action is finally over with the Canadian GP getting underway on June 15.

Oscar Piastri arrives on Canadian soil in fine fettle following his victory at the Spanish Grand Prix, which was his fourth race triumph of the season. It consolidated the Aussies’ lead at the top of the F1 Drivers’ Championship. However, his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, is breathing down his neck, having only finished out of the top-2 in two of the previous nine GPs this year.

The McLarens look to be going from strength to strength with Norris and Piastri both claiming pole en route to their respective race wins at the Circuit de Monaco and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The defending 4-time F1 world champion, Max Verstappen, is the only other driver to top the podium aside from the McLaren pair during the current campaign, having clinched victories at the Japanese and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Despite trailing Piastri and Norris in the standings, Verstappen will take heart from his recent performances at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, where he has won three races on the spin for the Red Bull outfit. The dynamic Dutchman still has a way to go to emulate the memorable Montreal feats of Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. Both F1 legends roared to victory in Canada on seven occasions apiece.

Let GOAL give you all the important information you need ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, including the full weekend schedule of events and how you can watch and stream all the action live.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a 4.361 km (2.710 mi) motor racing circuit on Notre Dame Island in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. As well as hosting the F1 Canadian Grand Prix since 1978, it has also hosted the World Sportscar Championship, the Champ Car World Series (Grand Prix of Montreal), the NASCAR Pinty’s and Nationwide Series and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. Originally named the Ile Notre-Dame Circuit, it would be renamed in 1982 in honour of Canadian Formula One driver Gilles Villeneuve, following his tragic death at the Belgian Grand Prix earlier that year.

F1 TV is the over-the-top streaming package operated by Formula One Management (FOM), the provider of the world feed for F1 broadcasts throughout each season. The service offers commercial-free coverage of all races as part of a single package. Due to rights deals, F1 TV is limited to the countries it is allowed to operate. The service is not available in the United Kingdom, meaning fans hoping to use it would need a VPN to access it and watch the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix.

However, you can still purchase F1 TV in the UK to access bonus content, such as live timing, map and leaderboard features, as well as access to team radios and other statistics. You can also view pre- and post-race shows with in-depth analysis and behind-the-scenes facts.

The Sky Go app, for mobile devices and personal tablets, will allow viewers to watch the race in full, while those with a Sky+ subscription will also be able to record the race and catch it retroactively. Additionally, those with NOW TV will be able to effectively draw upon the Sky Sports F1 coverage, too, though their ability to access on-demand replay broadcasts will be limited due to the nature of the package.

How to watch the F1 Canadian Grand Prix 2025 from anywhere with a VPN

If you find yourself unable to view the Canadian Grand Prix locally, you may need a different way to watch the race. That's where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on race day, by encrypting your traffic, and it's also a great idea if you're travelling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins. With a VPN, you're able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to race action. Most VPNs, like NordVPN, make it easy to do this.

We highly recommend using NordVPN, but you can also check out our detailed VPN guide for other options.

Frequently asked questions

The Canadian Grand Prix was first held in 1961 and it's been part of the F1 World Championship since 1967. It was first staged at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario during the pre-F1 era, before alternating between Mosport and Circuit Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, after Formula One took over the event. Following safety concerns with the Mosport venue, the race moved to its current home at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Notre Dame Island in Montreal, Quebec, in 1978.

The home crowd will of course be cheering on the sole Canadian driver, Lance Stroll. However, the Aston Martin driver has only two top-10 finishes to his name this season and both came during the opening two race weekends of the campaign, back in March. Gilles Villeneuve is the only Canadian driver ever to win his home grand prix, when he clinched victory in the 1978 edition of the race.

Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton remain top of the all-time Canadian Grand Prix wins list with seven successes apiece. Max Verstappen is four wins behind them, having won three successive races in Montreal and he’ll be aiming to top the podium once again. However, it’s been the McLarens who have been setting the pace during the early phase of the 2025 F1 campaign and Oscar Piastri & Lando Norris will look to set the standard once more.

The next race on the 2025 Formula One season schedule after the Canadian Grand Prix is the Austrian Grand Prix (June 29), which is set to be held at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. The Austrian Grand Prix remains one of the cult favourites on the Formula One season calendar.

Much to the joy of Red Bull teams and fans, it has become one of the main hunting grounds for Max Verstappen, with the Dutchman holding the record for the most victories with four. Verstappen looked to be heading towards a 5th win at the track in the space of seven years, twelve months ago, but a race incident involving the 4-time F1 world champion and Lando Norris 8 laps from the finish, saw George Russell take advantage and the chequered flag.
