For Turner, this transfer window had one principal goal: to find somewhere to get consistent playing time. Since departing the Revs in 2022, minutes have largely been hard to come by, with the goalkeeper featuring just seven times for Arsenal in 2022-23, 20 times for Forest in 2023-24 and four times for Palace in '24-25.
That lack of playing time finally came back to bite Turner this summer, when he didn't feature at all throughout the USMNT's Gold Cup run, with NYCFC's Matt Freese starting the entire tournament.
Turner's lone start of the summer came against Switzerland in an awful USMNT defeat, pre-Gold Cup, and his subsequent time as a backup showed that the goalkeeper race was wide open ahead of the World Cup. This move to MLS, then, will presumably give Turner the minutes he needs as he pushes to get back into Mauricio Pochettino's plans.
