  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The pair, on the trip celebrating Wrexham's promotion to League One, have courted controversy after posting anti-monarchy messages on their Instagram accounts. McClean and Mullin have since deleted their posts appearing to target King Charles III, who is currently fighting a battle with cancer. The Wrexham duo also attended the Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez fight against Jaime Munguia at the T-Mobile Arena over the weekend amid an alcohol-fuelled trip to the United States.

    WHAT MULLIN AND MCCLEAN SAID

As per The Sun, Mullin first posted a picture alongside McClean on his Instagram story, saying: "And we hate the f***ing King!"

McClean then re-shared the post and added: "We serve no king or kaiser but Ireland! Sue me."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Neither Mullin or McClean have shied away from sharing their political beliefs. Mullin shared a photo of a pair of football boots with the words 'F*** the Tories' written on the side, which he was not allowed to wear by the club, and has also admitted in the past he has "no interest" in the royal family. McClean, meanwhile, has long been targeted for his refusal to wear a poppy on remembrance Sunday and refused to apologise for singing along to a Wrexham chant about him 'hating the King' after their promotion to League One was confirmed.

WHAT NEXT FOR MULLIN AND MCCLEAN?

Once they return from their trip to Vegas, Mullin, McClean and the rest of the Wrexham squad will knuckle down for pre-season ahead of next season's campaign in League One. The Red Dragons have already began reshaping their squad ahead of the new season and will be looking to make further additions to help with the jump up another league.
