  • WHAT HAPPENED?

For now, Brazil international Neymar is tied to a contract at Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal. Those terms, which include an extension option, are due to expire in the summer of 2025. The South American forward has been plagued by injuries throughout his spell in the Middle East.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

There are suggestions that he could become another marquee addition in Florida, if MLS agrees to relax its salary regulations, and any move to the United States would see Neymar reunited with Messi and Luis Suarez as Barcelona’s fabled ‘MSN’ strike force is reformed.

  • WHAT EX-MLS & USMNT STAR SAID

Ex-USMNT star Herculez Gomez believes a fresh start in Miami would be beneficial to all concerned, with a man that spent much of his playing career in MLS telling Futbol Americas: “I think not only does he want it, I think he needs it. He needs to re-spark his career in a way only Messi and friends could do it. And hopefully that good club form he would have in MLS and Inter Miami, which if you don’t believe that please look at Luis Suarez as exhibit A, what he’s done, Neymar can do as well. And if he reignites his club career, that’s going to translate to the national team where Brazil desperately need him.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR NEYMAR?

Neymar has taken in just seven appearances for Al-Hilal, scoring one goal, since leaving Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2023. He is nursing another knock at present, but would likely welcome the opportunity to link up with Messi and Co again in the Sunshine State.
