No Neymar, no problem! Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal equal impressive world record - even without injured Brazilian superstar

Al-Hilal equalled the world record for most consecutive wins despite having been without Neymar for most of the season through injury.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The Saudi Pro League leaders came from behind to win 3-1 after Ali Albulayhi's own goal thanks to Ruben Neves' penalty and strikes from Michael and Aleksandar Mitrovic on Friday night. This 27th victory in a row in all competitions equalled the world record set by Welsh team The New Saints and they achieved it without £77.2 million ($98.3m) summer recruit Neymar - who has been out injured since October.

Al-Hilal are on course for a silverware-laden season as they are top of the Saudi Pro League by 12 points, are into the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League - where they have a 2-0 first leg lead over At-Ittihad - and a Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Al-Nassr lies ahead, too. In more ways than one, this could be a record-breaking season for the Riyadh-based team.

Neymar swapped Paris Saint-Germain for the Saudi side last August and much was expected of the 32-year-old but he played just five times, scoring one goal, before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for Brazil. He is likely to return to action this summer, after the season ends.

Al-Hilal can break the world record for consecutive wins in a row when they travel to Al-Ittihad in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday night. They return to league action on Saturday at home to sixth-placed Damac.
