When Salah moved to Liverpool from Roma for £36.5m, some doubted if the Merseyside club had overpaid for the winger considering his previous Premier League stint.

Yet both Salah and Liverpool silenced all doubters.

Unfortunately, Salah couldn't achieve his full potential during his stint with Chelsea. The Blues had signed him after his impressive displays against them in the Champions League group stages for Basel.

Despite his underwhelming time in London, his first-ever Premier League goal against Arsenal to complete Chelsea's 6-0 victory in 2014 will be remembered fondly by supporters.

Salah didn't take much time to impress at Basel. Bought as a replacement for future Liverpool team-mate Xherdan Shaqiri he helped them win the league title during both of his seasons at the club.

His performances in Europe, particularly against Chelsea, caught the eye of many and eventually led to his move to the Blues.

While it took some time for Salah to find his goalscoring form in club football, he was clinical for Egypt right from the start of his international career.

His goals and performances have helped the Pharaohs regain their status as one of the best African national teams.

Salah led Egypt to their first World Cup since 1990 in 2018, later helping them reach the AFCON final in 2021, but unfortunately losing on penalties.

Despite the failure to win trophies, Salah has cemented his legacy with Egypt.

Salah poses a strong argument for being labelled the greatest African player of all time. Despite struggling at different points in his career, he has risen back to win everything a player possibly can at club level.

Despite the lack of trophies for Egypt, he serves as inspiration and hope for an entire country, with many young footballers hoping to become the "next Salah".
