De Bruyne officially announced that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the 2024-25 campaign as a free agent after his contract expires. The Belgian midfielder returned to England - having previously endured a tough time at Chelsea - in the summer of 2015 and signed for the Cityzens from Wolfsburg. In the next 10 years, the player won every major trophy at Etihad Stadium, including six league titles and a Champions League trophy. He was also an integral part of the 2022-23 treble-winning City team.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
With De Bruyne exiting Etihad Stadium this summer, his former club Wolfsburg sent out a cheeky invitation to the player on social media and urged the veteran star to return to the Bundesliga and rejoin them. The 33-year-old spent one-and-a-half seasons at Wolfsburg, where he won the DFB Pokal and DFL-Supercup titles.
WHAT WOLFSBURG SAID
Quoting De Bruyne's X post where he made the announcement of leaving the Cityzens, the German club wrote: "Dear Kevin, do you remember? You and I ten years ago? How about the two of us again?"
