Hirving Lozano to MLS! Mexico international signs four-year deal with San Diego FC after ending PSV Eindhoven stay

Lozano's transition to San Diego comes after a notable season with PSV when he netted six goals in 29 appearances across all competitions and played a crucial role in securing the team's first Eredivisie title in six years. And after finding success in the Netherlands, he will cross the Atlantic to team up with the expansion side as a Designated Player in January. However, he will complete the signing in the summer and will be loaned back to spend the next six months with PSV.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Lozano has signed a four-year contract with San Diego. He is expected to earn between $7 million (£5.48m) and $9 million (£7m) annually placing him among the highest-paid players in MLS - only behind Lionel Messi and Lorenzo Insigne.

Securing Lozano's services at the age of 28 represents a strategic victory for San Diego FC. In a league where marquee signings often come towards the end of players' careers, Lozano's relatively young age and prime playing condition offer a promising outlook for both the player and the club.

On the international stage, Lozano has been a pivotal player for the Mexican national team, amassing 18 goals in 70 appearances. Although he featured prominently in both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups. the winger will not participate in the upcoming Copa America on US soil after failing to make the cut along with Guillermo Ochoa and Raul Jimenez.
