  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Tel swapped Bayern for Tottenham on loan until the end of the season and in the hubbub of the move, the 19-year-old was busy messaging ex-Spurs star Kane about the north London outfit. The England captain revealed what they discussed and wished him the best going forward.

    WHAT HARRY KANE SAID

He said: "He asked me [about Tottenham]. When the deal was done, he texted me and told me how great the training ground was. He was very excited. I wish Mathys all the best. Hopefully he gets a lot of playing time. That's what he needs. He needs to develop and experience the highs and lows on the pitch. I know Tottenham well, they will look after him well. Hopefully he does well there. He should show what he can do at the highest level."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Tel made his Tottenham debut this week, mere days after he reportedly initially rejected the club - only to end up joining Ange Postecoglou's men on transfer deadline day. And the Australian head coach is confident the Frenchman, who struggled for game time at Bayern, will join them permanently in the summer.
