- Dortmund draw 1-1
- Reyna remains on bench
- Leverkusen atop Bundesliga
GettyStill nothing from Gio Reyna! USMNT star left on bench yet again as Dortmund squander lead in draw with Bayer Leverkusen

Dortmund scored an important early goal, settling any nerves as they visited the Bundesliga leaders. That goal came from an unlikely source, Julian Ryerson, who capped off a beautiful Dortmund sequence. After several passes in the buildup, Niclas Fullkrug flicked a pass into the path of Ryerson, who finished to give Dortmund the lead.
Leverkusen responded, though, having a goal wiped out in the first half before, inevitably, finding their equalizer late. That equalizer came from striker sensation Victor Boniface, who netted his eighth Bundesliga goal of the season and 13th in all competitions. This one wasn't too difficult, a tap-in from close range, but it was very, very important as it could very well be remembered as a key moment in the Bundesliga title race.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
With the point, Leverkusen remain atop the Bundesliga, although they could slip to second very soon. Xabi Alonso's side holds a three-point lead over Bayern Munich, whose match against Union Berlin was postponed this weekend.
As for Dortmund, they're 10 points back in fifth place but are within just one point of RB Leipzig in fourth and five points back of VfB Stuttgart in third.

Reyna remains on the outside looking in with Dortmund, having been unable to crack the club's XI this season. In total, he's played just 186 minutes across six appearances in all competitions and has started just once in the league this season.
The struggles come after Reyna thrived as a supersub in the second half last season, but Edin Terzic hasn't even given him those off-the-bench minutes to make his mark this term. Meanwhile, with the USMNT, Reyna has thrived in his appearances, playing well in a new No. 10 role under B.J. Callaghan and Gregg Berhalter.
After leaning on Fullkrug, Julian Brandt, Marco Reus and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as starters, Terzic turned to Karim Adeyemi as his primary attacking sub, leaving Reyna, Donyell Malen, Sebastian Haller and Youssoufa Moukoko on the bench, highlighting the logjam of attacking options currently at the club.
GOAL'S RATINGS
Gio Reyna (N/A):
Didn't get off the bench again. There have been rumblings of a transfer... will those rumblings grow even louder due to Reyna's lack of playing time?

Dortmund are in the midst of a crucial part of their season, as they compete in three competitions. On Wednesday, they'll visit VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal Round of 16 before playing host to RB Leipzig in Bundesliga play on Saturday.
After that, all eyes will turn towards a Champions League clash with PSG. Dortmund are already through after their win over AC Milan this past Tuesday, but they could help out Milan or Newcastle with a result as it remains all to play for in this season's Group of Death.
