‘Forget Oasis!’ - Wrexham captain James McClean announces ‘biggest comeback’ after 144-day absence

Manchester’s finest Britpop band are touring once more, with family feuds being forgotten by Gallagher brothers Liam and Noel. They are selling out arenas around the world as supporters flock to watch them in action.

Wrexham have also been pulling in the punters of late, with their global fan base growing courtesy of the club’s award-winning documentary series and a run of three successive promotions. The presence of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in North Wales also helps.

Phil Parkinson’s squad are currently readying themselves for life in the Championship, with a pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand forming part of that process. While they are Down Under, Andy Cannon has made a welcome return to the training field.

The hard-working midfielder suffered ACL damage during a League One meeting with Mansfield in February. He has spent over 140 days stuck on the sidelines since then, but can see light at the end of his rehabilitation tunnel.

Club captain McClean is delighted to see a smile on the face of a popular member of Wrexham’s ranks, with the Irishman posting on social media: “The big AC is on the comeback trail. Forget Oasis, this is the biggest comeback of the year!”

Cannon joined Wrexham in 2022 and has played a part in their record-breaking rise up the EFL. The 29-year-old has graced the Championship before with Hull City and will be eager to turn out at that level again in 2025-26.
