  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Leeds are described by the Daily Telegraph as being "braced for bids" for Summerville as the transfer window approaches. Chelsea are named as a suitor for the 22-year-old Dutchman, a player who fits the mould at Stamford Bridge in terms of young talent. Liverpool are another side linked, although there is no indication of firm interest. Anyone who does go after Summerville could expect to pay as much as £30m ($38.3m).

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Selling Summerville, who scored 21 times across all competitions in 2023-24, could be necessary for Leeds as losing the Championship play-off final against Southampton is a financial blow. It is often thought of as the most valuable game in world football, estimated to be worth at least £140m over three years because of the enormous revenue streams it opens up.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Summerville scored in four consecutive Premier League games for Leeds across October and November of 2022 - against Fulham, Liverpool, Bournemouth and Tottenham. They are the only goals he has scored in the Premier League to date.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA?

Chelsea are in the midst of another restart as the club edges closer to appointing Enzo Maresca as Mauricio Pochettino's replacement, a decision that hasn't gone down well with some fans. The Blues will be looking to build on a positive end to 2023-24 that saw Pochettino ensure European football will be played at Stamford Bridge next season.
