  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The 39-year-old midfielder joined the Serie A side in a free transfer after a glittering 13-year career at Real Madrid. The Croatia icon is expected to bring leadership, experience and technical skill to the Rossoneri as they look to improve on a woeful 2024-25 campaign in which they failed to qualify for a place in Europea.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With former coach Massimiliano Allegri also coming in this summer amid a midfield rebuild, Pulisic believes that the six-time Champions League winner's presence will provide a massive boost to the Rossoneri. The United States international also gave his backing to Portuguese winger Rafael Leao, who he believes is underappreciated and capable of becoming an even more effective attacker.

  • WHAT PULISIC SAID

Pulisic told La Gazzetta dello Sport of Modric: "He will bring experience, an indispensable skill during matches. For years he has been a player of exceptional quality: I watched him play as a fan, then I also faced him. Taking the ball away from him is difficult and what's more he is a leader who will give Milan continuity of performance and concreteness. It'll be valuable on and off the field."

Speaking about Leao, he stated: "I don't know why people continue to doubt its potential. We know them well and seeing him score like Saturday against the Reds, after a great acceleration, does not surprise us. For me it's a top, top, top talent. Like the whole team, he just has to find continuity of performance and then he will be increasingly decisive."
