215 games. There’s no need to pinch yourself, you didn’t dream it, the rumours aren’t false. Sky Sports are screening a staggering 215 Premier League matches this season. That’s 100 games more than the sports specialists showed last season, and you won’t want to miss a single second of the exhilarating football action that’s heading your way.
Despite the unbelievable increase in coverage, the live EPL action is still just a small percentage of the overall 1,400+ football games, Sky Sports will be showing live this coming season. They will also be screening matches from numerous other competitions and leagues, such as the EFL, Women's Super League, Carabao Cup, Scottish Premiership and the German Bundesliga.
Sky Sports is undoubtedly an investment for the season. With that purchase, some will experience the joys of promotion, the play-offs, and the lifting of trophies come May. However, as a football fan, you know that you have to take the highs with the lows too, at times. So, some will also have to endure the despair of relegation and listening to the likes of Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher bemoaning how badly your side has performed. Whatever awaits, you know you will be glued to the screen over the coming months, watching the drama unfold on Sky Sports. Let GOAL give you the full rundown on how you can become a Sky Sports viewer and what the best sign-up deals are currently.
Sky Sports TV packages directly from Sky
Multiple options are available for customers wanting to join Sky Sports through Sky, and it all depends on what exactly you want and how frequently you intend to watch it.
Sky Sports with Sky Stream, Sky TV & Netflix
From £35 per month
With Sky Sports with Sky Stream, Sky TV & Netflix, you can stream every Sky Sports channel live on your television. There’s no need for a satellite dish; it’s all operated straight through your Wi-Fi. The basic package, a 24-month fixed contract, costs £35 per month, but a much smaller package starts at £15 per month with an additional £20 per month to add the Sky Sports package, giving you access to some of the finest sports on television. So getting the Sky Sports, Sky TV & Netflix package is more cost-effective. This package has no upfront fee, allowing you quick access and the most effortless setup. However, you need to ensure you have a good internet connection to get the most out of this.
Complete Sky Sports
From £20 per month
Complete Sky Sports is a package for existing Sky TV customers in which they can add the sports package to their current subscription. The Complete Sky Sports option gives you access to all the Sky Sports channels for an additional £22 per month with a minimum 24-month subscription.
However, it is also possible to add just a single Sky Sports channel to your subscription. This is ideal if you’re only a fan of football or maybe just want to watch Formula 1 when it’s on. You can choose one additional Sky Sports channel to your package for £20 per month on a 31-day rolling contract. So, for example, you could add Sky Sports Premier League for just £20 per month.
Sky Glass & Sky Sports
Upfront from £309
Sky Glass has proved to be a hit since launching in 2021. In basic terms, it’s a TV with Sky packaged inside it. The costs vary depending on what it is you're after, but Sky TV Essential is £15 a month, then you can add on anything else, including Sky Sports, for £20 a month, totalling £35 per month as a starting point. Besides those monthly payments, you will have to pay for the TV itself, and how much depends on the size of the TV as follows:
- Pricing for Sky Glass Air: One-time payment of £309 for 43”, £509 for 55” and £649 for 65”.
- Pricing for Sky Glass Gen 2: One-time payment of £699 for 43”, £949 for 55” and £1199 for 65”.
- (NB: The TV payments can also be paid in monthly instalments rather than an all-in-one upfront charge)
There is a lot to be said for Sky Glass, which gives you the opportunity to upgrade your television and get the Sky TV package you want at the same time, for a fairly reasonable price. It’s certainly going to be the future of Sky TV, and with so many customisable options, it’s no surprise it’s been popular. Even more so with Sky Glass Gen 2 launching earlier this year, which has brought with it improved customer usability.
Non-Package Option
If you’re an avid sports watcher and going to watch a lot of the action on Sky Sports, it’s probably cheaper to opt for a Sky subscription as mentioned above. However, if you like to dip in and out and just want to watch some of the bigger events, NOW’s Sports Membership may prove to be a more affordable and flexible way of getting Sky Sports. It works like a subscription streaming service, where you simply buy the membership for one month or one day, and stream Sky Sports using your home broadband.
NOW gives you all the same access to sport as you’d get through a Sky TV package, but it’s cheaper and there’s no fixed contract. That means it’s ideal if you did want to cancel during your sport’s offseason, whether that be football, cricket, F1 or anything else. Prices range from £14.99 per day, up to £34.99 a month, with an additional £26-per-month offer, which locks you in for six months. NOW can be streamed on your computer, tablet, some smart TVs, games consoles and devices such as the Chromecast, Roku and Amazon Fire Sticks.
Do Other TV Providers Offer Sky Sports?
It is also possible to subscribe to Sky Sports through other TV packages such as Virgin Media and EE TV (formerly BT). These packages can vary in price, but in many cases offer additional sports channels too.
EE's Big Sport EE TV package includes each Sky Sports channel, as well as TNT Sport, for £48 per month, while Virgin Media can offer up Sky Sports, including TNT Sports, for just over £54.99 per month with their Bigger Combo bundle + Sports.
