Barcelona goalkeeper shuffle continues as Inaki Pena makes decision on his future while Marc-Andre ter Stegen uncertainty drags on

According to MARCA, Pena is set to leave Barcelona this summer, with his departure expected to be finalised in the coming days. The 26-year-old goalkeeper, who featured prominently in the first half of last season, saw his role diminished following the arrival of Wojciech Szczesny and now faces further competition with the signing of Joan Garcia, who is poised to become the club’s new first-choice keeper.

Pena, who has one year left on his contract, is prioritizing a move abroad and has several offers on the table. While interest from La Liga appears unlikely, he hopes to join his new club before Barca’s preseason begins on July 13. Meanwhile, Marc-Andre ter Stegen remains committed to staying at the club despite being displaced in the pecking order.

According to reports, Ter Stegen would be open to leaving Barcelona if he receives the full salary owed for the remaining years of his contract, which runs until 2028. The German international is reportedly feeling betrayed, as he was not made aware of the club’s long-term plans to restructure the goalkeeping position.

The Catalans will return to preseason activities on July 13. They are set to travel to Japan and South Korea to take on Vissel Kobe, Seoul, and Daegu, before returning to Spain for their first La Liga encounter of the 2025-26 season against Mallorca on August 17.
