WHAT HAPPENED?
The Spanish international Morata’s proposed transfer to Como is at a standstill, despite the club having agreed terms with both AC Milan and the striker. Como president Mirwan Suwarso confirmed that everything on their end is done, but they are now waiting for Galatasaray and Milan to resolve the forward’s complex loan situation. Morata, still officially tied to Galatasaray until at least January 2026, cannot move until the Turkish club agree to release him.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Como, backed by ambitious project leaders and growing Serie A ambitions, have identified Morata as a key signing to bolster their frontline. But with Victor Osimhen's transfer saga dragging on, Galatasaray did not want to let the Spain captain leave before the Nigerian's deal was over the line. Milan, who are not directly involved in Morata's playing plans, must also navigate this web as they want Morata off their books entirely.
WHAT SUWARSO SAID
Speaking before the Como Cup final, president Suwarso made clear the club’s intentions: "We try to give the coach the best possible team. Only Fabregas can answer what's missing; investments are made to generate returns."
He also denied any lingering hope of signing Messi, and reaffirmed their strategy of investing wisely for returns: “For me, Messi isn't a dream, he's impossible. Morata? All that's missing is for him to be here. We have an agreement with Milan and with the player. Galatasaray and Milan need to talk, but we've done what we had to do.”

WHAT NEXT FOR MORATA?
The next move belongs to Gala, and possibly Osimhen, if the Nigerian striker completes a switch to Istanbul, the Turkish club may allow Morata to leave, thus freeing him to join Como. Until then, the Spanish international remains in limbo. Como, meanwhile, continue to wait, hoping the market shifts in their favour. Should the deal collapse, they may be forced to shift focus to an alternative forward, though Suwarso’s words suggest they’re not giving up just yet.
