'It will be special' - Werner on high profile Muller matchup

Timo Werner admitted it will be a special meeting when his San Jose Earthquakes face off against Thomas Muller's Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. The duo shared the pitch consistently for Germany, and have played against each other at the highest levels in Europe on a number of occasions. Werner has tallied two assists in three appearances since signing for San Jose last month.

After months of speculation about their long-term future in Vancouver, the Whitecaps appear to have found a path forward in the Canadian city. Fresh off their first MLS Cup final appearance, the club announced plans with the City of Vancouver for a new stadium. After more than a decade at BC Place, Vancouver are preparing to negotiate the construction of a purpose-built venue at Hastings Park.
