Marko Arnautovic may seek a move away from West Ham in the near future, with the striker keen on playing in the Champions League, according to his agent.
The former Stoke City forward has netted five goals in 10 league appearances for Manuel Pellegriniâs side this season and was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
West Ham snapped up Arnautovic in a deal worth a reported ÂŁ25 million (âŹ29m/$33m) at the beginning of last season. Despite a difficult previous campaign for the Hammers, the Austria star stood out as their most consistent player, with former manager David Moyes moving him into a more central attacking role.
The striker has carried that form into this season and has admitted that he may look to secure a move to one of the Premier Leagueâs top clubs whilst he is in his prime.
âIâm 29, so thatâs the best age,â the West Ham star told Kurier.Â
âItâs clear that I want to compete with the best players. But in this affair I totally trust my brother.â
Arnautovicâs brother Danijel, who is also his agent, has suggested that the forward could be on the move again before he enters his 30s.
âHeâs a big part of West Hamâs team but I think itâs possible to tease out more of him. For that to happen, he has to play for a top team,â he said.
âMarko is ready for the next step. A player like him should not play against relegation. He should play for the international spots.
âMarko is really enjoying playing for West Ham. He loves that club and the fans. But there is still that feeling, that this cannot be the end. And everybody should understand that.â
Danijel was then pressed on whether his brother could leave West Ham in the near future, saying:Â âThatâs possible. It was already very, very close this last summer.â
Arnautovic is currently away on international duty with Austria, who face Nations League ties against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Northern Ireland in the coming days.
West Ham are to host Premier League champions Manchester City in their next league fixture.
