The Blues have been heavily linked with the Napoli defender for some time and the door has been kept open for a formal approach this summer

The agent of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has refused to rule out the prospect of his client making a move to Chelsea.

The Blues were heavily linked with an approach for the Senegal international in the summer of 2016.

Koulibably transfer talk cooled

Antonio Conte would eventually snap up David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain instead, with the Brazilian taken back to Stamford Bridge in a £34 million deal.

Koulibaly is, however, said to remain a target – with Chelsea eager to freshen up an ageing back line at some stage – and the door has been left open for summer discussions.

“Chelsea were interested but then they signed David Luiz and you also have John Terry and Gary Cahill at the club so there is a lot of competition there,” Bruno Satin told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“So we will see what happens. A lot of the improvements that Koulibaly has made in his game has been down to the coaching of Maurizio Sarri.

“Whatever happens in the future will depend on the president [Aurelio De Laurentiis] and whether or not he decides to evaluate any offers that may come in.”

Koulibaly has made 31 appearances for Napoli in all competitions this season, while taking in three outings for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He penned a new contract in September which ties him to his current club until 2021, but those terms could be broken by a big-money offer.
