Columbus Crew acquire Artur on permanent transfer

The Brazilian midfielder established himself as a key member of Gregg Berhalter's side while on loan in the 2017 campaign.

The Columbus Crew have acquired Brazilian midfielder Artur on a permanent transfer from Sao Paulo FC.

The 21-year-old spent 2017 on loan with the Crew, and impressed in a holding midfield role next to Wil Trapp. 

Artur made 24 appearances (19 starts) in the 2017 regular season, notching three assists. 

The Brazilian also led the Crew in successful tackles (73) and recoveries per 90 minutes (8.01) during the regular season.

“Artur was one of the most promising young players in MLS last season and completing his transfer from Sao Paulo FC was one of our priorities this offseason,” Crew head coach Gregg Berhalter said in a club release.

“We are happy that he has committed his future to the club and we look forward to beginning our work together on a successful 2018 campaign.”
