Germany’s unexpected early exit from World Cup 2018 has not put into doubt the international future of Jerome Boateng.
The reigning champions were eliminated from the competition at the group stage, which they had passed in every previous competition since 1938.
“It was never a topic for me,” he told Welt am Sonntag when asked about any potential retirement plans that he may have.
“As long as nobody comes to me and says that everything will be completely changed and that they don't plan with me anymore, of course I want to continue playing.”
The Berlin-born defender has won 73 caps for his country and has scored a single goal – the opener against Slovakia in a 3-0 win at Euro 2016.
