The visitors took the lead after 36 minutes when Cannon scored his first competitive goal for the club. James McClean was the creator down the left, picking out an unmarked Cannon on the edge of the penalty area to slot a low shot past the dive of goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell and into the far corner. Wrexham doubled their lead five minutes later when Lee pounced on a flick by Paul Mullin and converted from close range.
Yet there was still time for more drama before half-time. Harrogate's Dean Cornelius took advantage of some poor defending to fire a low shot past Okonkwo, before George Evans was a whisker away from making it 3-1 with a brilliant effort from range that hit the woodwork.
Wrexham were forced into a change at half-time, with Okonkwo replaced by Mark Howard after taking a knock to the jaw in the first half. 37-year-old Howard's first job was to pick the ball out of the back of the net after Anthony O'Connor had equalised within 90 seconds of the restart. The momentum was suddenly with the hosts but they struggled to trouble the Wrexham goal and both teams eventually settled for a point.
