    WHAT MORGAN SAID

Morgan told CBS Sports after adding another medal to her collection as Charlie watched on from the stands: “It’s just so incredibly special to share these moments with her and for her to have the opportunity to join me on a lot of these trips. This is such an important time in her life and I don’t want to miss it and I don’t think she likes to miss me, so we’re doing this together. It’s tough, no doubt about it, but it’s so worth it.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The USWNT have got back on the trophy trail following a forgettable showing at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, with there gold medal glory for them to try and chase down later in the year at the Paris Olympics. Morgan added on the potential in an exciting young squad: “We started off the year really strong and I think it’s important to build on this. We have a lot of young players and winning this trophy is so huge.

"They overcame all the pressure and nerves, a penalty shootout, there was really everything in this tournament. It’s just such great experience as we look to prepare for the Olympics. As the Olympic roster is smaller in size than this one, it’s a battle for sure on who is going to make the roster. I think a lot of players made names for themselves in this tournament and that was the point of it. For me coming in late, it was just make as much of an impact as I can, try to being a trophy home and I’m very happy in this moment.”
