The United States celebrated their W Gold Cup win in style, with Alex Morgan and Sophia Smith left chugging champagne from a prestigious trophy.

After surrendering their World Cup crown in disappointing fashion in 2023, the United States are back in the winning habit after savouring continental glory. Talismanic captain Lindsey Horan netted the only goal of the game in their Gold Cup triumph over Brazil.

That solitary strike came in first-half stoppage-time, with the USWNT able to hold on in the second 45 and drag themselves over the line. Unsurprisingly, there were wild scenes of celebration afterwards as a squad that now blends youth with experience offered the perfect response to any doubters.
