  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Architect Jorge Luis Veliz has taken it upon himself to piece together plans for what would be the ultimate American base for Messi and his family following a stunning move to Inter Miami. The futuristic design is based around the ‘M’ logo that now forms part of Messi’s global brand.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Veliz has said of his dream project: “This majestic mansion consists of three levels and is located on an exclusive ship-shaped island, providing privacy and a privileged location.” The home dreamt up for Messi would also include a games room, home theatre, a pool and a football pitch for the Argentine and his three sons to practice on.

  • AND WHAT'S MORE

It has been suggested that such an abode would cost around $50 million (£40m) to construct. Money is no object to the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner – as one of the most commercially-profitable figures on the planet – but he is currently setting up camp at houses that do not require a mythical island to be created for him.

  • WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Messi has made a stunning impact in the United States since linking up with Inter Miami as a free agent. David Beckham and Co are seeing an immediate return on their investment in the Argentine, with a first piece of silverware collected in the Leagues Cup before securing a spot in the U.S. Open Cup final and a three-point haul on Messi’s debut in MLS.
