Vincent Kompany is off to Bayern! German giants agree fee for ex-Man City star as their search for Thomas Tuchel's successor finally comes to an end

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The Bundesliga giants' search for a new coach has finally come to an end as they are closing in on appointing Kompany as their next head coach. According to Sky Sports, Bayern will pay a fee between €10 million (£8m/$11m) - €12m (£10m/$13m) to Burnley to secure the services of Kompany until 2027.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    The 38-year-old retired from professional football in 2020 having won four Premier League titles with Manchester City. Upon retirement, he took charge of Anderlecht and managed for three years before heading to The Clarets in 2022. In his first season at the helm, the former defender helped the club win the Championship title and gain promotion to the Premier League, however, they lasted for just a season in the top flight before going back to the second division.

    The Bavarian side finished third in the Bundesliga and failed to win a single trophy in the 2023-24 campaign. With Kompany on board, the German giants would hope to turn things around in the coming season.
