Trent Alexander-Arnold closer than ever to Liverpool exit as Reds hesitate to offer England star higher wages than Mo Salah & Virgil van Dijk

The Reds have initiated contract talks with three star players, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are in the final years of their respective contracts. According to The Sun, while talks have progressed with Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold remains far from agreeing on a new deal. The report further adds that the club are unwilling to pay the full-back more than Salah and Van Dijk, who currently earn £350,000 and £220,000, respectively.

The English defender, on the other hand, has offers from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. If he decides to move to either of the two European giants, he could earn much more than what the Premier League side is offering him at the moment. The 26-year-old is currently on a £180,000-a-week deal.

Salah, too, is far from committing his future to Liverpool. The Egyptian is expecting a significant rise in his pay in the new deal amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. The Merseyside giants have also started looking for the talismanic winger's replacement and have Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush on their shortlist.

The Premier League leaders, who enjoyed a stellar run of form in the 2024-25 campaign, will next be seen in action on Saturday night when they face Aston Villa at home in a league fixture.
