    THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to the Daily Mail, the German did not enjoy his two-season-long stay at the Blues and was perceived as detached and immature by the people at the club. While the player got along with his colleagues, he reportedly never went out of his way to mix with people. He also came across as unenthusiastic in training, struggling to comprehend tactics as neither Frank Lampard nor Thomas Tuchel could bring the best out of the talented forward.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Despite his failed stint with Chelsea, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou went ahead and signed the attacker primarily due to the absence of club captain Heung-min Son, who will be away on national duty for nearly a month for the Asian Cup 2023. Also, Werner will be desperate to prove his critics wrong and try to book a place in the German squad for the Euro 2024. The striker is also known to be versatile as he can play in multiple attacking positions.
