  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayern were torn apart by Leverkusen and Muller's side were left chasing shadows for much of the game. Despite boasting one of the most experienced sides in Europe, Bayern have struggled to match the pace of Xabi Alonso's spritely Leverkusen team and the gulf in performance levels was shown again today. Muller believes Bayern should be doing better.

    WHAT MULLER SAID

Speaking to Sky Germany, Muller said: "To be honest, I'm p***ed off. To quote Oliver Kahn: What I miss from us players are the balls in the game. We are showing significantly better approaches in training. It's okay to feel pressure, but there needs to be energy and freedom. That's missing in our game.

"Sometimes we have to speak about us players. It's not just about the coach. We have many international players at the highest level, we need to step up our game."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Bayer Leverkusen have never won the Bundesliga and have not won a trophy since 1993. The team's misfortune in finals led them to be labelled 'Neverkusen', for never winning a trophy. On the other hand, Bayern have won 33 league titles, six Champions Leagues and 20 German cups.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MULLER?

With their chances at winning the Bundesliga seemingly slipping away, Bayern and Muller will need to step up if they are to not end the season trophyless. Despite having won 11 Bundesliga titles in a row, Bayern look far from making it a dozen at present.
