Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney given 'won't be cheap' warning as Wrexham linked with two forwards in their hunt for the perfect Paul Mullin strike partner

Wrexham are in the process of identifying possible transfer targets in the January window. The Red Dragons already have plenty of firepower on their books, but there have been suggestions that long-term planning in North Wales will see another goalscorer targeted.

Peterborough frontman Clarke-Harris, who boasts a prolific record in League One, is said to be registering on Wrexham’s recruitment radar alongside experienced Sheffield Wednesday frontman Lee Gregory. Both men are due to become free agents in the summer, meaning that they could be acquired for nothing.

Wrexham may have to wait until that point before getting any deals done, with former England international Carlton Palmer telling Football League World of transfer talk at SToK Racecourse: “Wrexham, going for back-to-back promotions, are interested in signing Lee Gregory and Jonson Clarke-Harris. Both are proven goalscorers in League One. Gregory getting promoted to the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday at the last time of asking last season. Both players won’t come cheap, but if they are retained by their clubs until the end of the season, Wrexham would have two gifted League One strikers and only have their wages to find, which won’t be cheap. I can’t see Peterborough allowing Harris to leave for nothing, so Wrexham might have to stump up a fee in January if they want him. From the noise that is coming out of Peterborough, they’ve already rejected offers for him and won’t allow him to leave cheaply.”

Wrexham have continued to fare admirably on the goal front this season – with the likes of Mullin, Steven Fletcher and Elliot Lee leading the way – but are aware of the need to plan for another step up in class as they sit among the automatic promotion places in League Two.
