Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney weigh up Phil Parkinson's Wrexham future after Red Dragons' awful start to life in Championship

Wrexham have picked up four points from five games this season. That return leaves them just above the relegation zone. More was expected at SToK Racecourse following a summer of big spending.

Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney helped to fund a £33 million ($45m) splurge in the last window, with the Red Dragons able to add Premier League pedigree to their ranks in the form of several experienced performers.

A new-look squad is yet to click, with talkSPORT claiming that Parkinson is now the subject of internal discussions in North Wales. Wrexham have conceded the highest xG in the second tier this season, while facing more shots than any of their rivals.

Reynolds and McElhenney have never hidden their desire to push Wrexham on towards the top-flight. They are not afraid to sign off tough decisions either, with fan favourites from a historic run of promotions - such as Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer - being allowed to leave.

Parkinson has said that “there was always going to be a period at the start where it doesn't go completely as you'd want it,” with Wrexham back in the second tier for the first time in 43 years. Parkinson’s record at that level is not the best, with 27 wins and 81 defeats being overseen across 146 games in charge of Championship clubs.
