  • Set to secure striker's signature
  • Chelsea must trim bloated squad
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Per Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have tabled a new bid for Lukaku as they aim to bring him back to Serie A. The new offer is worth €30m (£25m), with add-ons and bonuses on top. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano adds that an agreement is now in place between the two clubs and Lukaku will sign a three-year deal. Napoli boss Antonio Conte is said to be very keen on a reunion with the Belgium international, having worked with him at Inter.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The new offer, while an improvement on previous bids, is said to feature lengthy payment terms as Napoli remain uncertain over Victor Osimhen's future. The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer but nothing is advanced; Chelsea and Arsenal are both said to be interested.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Lukaku has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy, playing first for Inter and then for Roma. He has a superb scoring record in Italy's top-flight, scoring 70 goals in 129 appearances.
