Roma have submitted an offer of €27m (£23m/$31m) plus €3m in bonuses for Rios, edging closer to Palmeiras’ €30m asking price, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Director Ricky Massara expects a response from Palmeiras by Thursday evening, with personal terms already agreed with Ríos. This has boosted Roma’s confidence in beating competition from Benfica, who remain interested but have yet to submit an official offer, according toSky.

After impressive performances at the Club World Cup and in Brazil’s domestic league, Ríos has emerged as one of the most sought-after midfielders. Rios, who has a €100m (£86m/$117m) release clause at Palmeiras, had Italian side Inter interested in signing him in case Hakan Calhanoglu left to join Galatasaray but the midfielder has decided to stay back at Inter.
