  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Vardy has been at King Power Stadium since 2012. Having played a key role in the club’s Premier League and FA Cup triumphs, the veteran striker has been able to forge a strong relationship with Leicester owner Aiyawatt “Top” Srivaddhanaprabha, according to Football Insider.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The report claims that Srivaddhanaprabha “listens to Vardy more than Van Nistelrooy”, a dynamic that has created friction behind the scenes. Vardy’s influence is not only said to be affecting Van Nistelrooy, but also causing tension with Leicester’s director of football, Jon Rudkin. The club’s decision-making structure is reportedly shifting, with Rudkin’s role becoming increasingly marginalised due to Vardy’s growing power.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Currently sitting 19th in the Premier League, Leicester are facing the prospect of relegation. They have lost five consecutive matches and their struggles have placed Van Nistelrooy in a difficult position. It has been suggested that the former Manchester United striker could be sacked before the end of the season.
