'Easy decision' - Marcus Rashford speaks out after sealing Man Utd escape as Aston Villa new boy expresses admiration towards Unai Emery

Rashford had been cast out of the United first-team squad by Ruben Amorim because the head coach was reportedly displeased with the winger's attitude. The Portuguese then went on to confirm that the England international would not be featuring in his side unless there was a significant improvement in his behaviour and commitment towards the side.

In the meantime, Rashford continued to look for avenues to exit the club during the winter transfer window, whether on loan or a permanent deal. The winger was heavily lined with Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, however, all three prospects died down close to the deadline as Aston Villa swooped in late to sign the England international on loan. Rashford has now opened up for the first time since his move to the West Midlands and praised Unai Emery.

On Instagram, Rashford wrote: "I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen.

"I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision - I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the managers’ ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season."

The England winger has not played an official game since December 12 and may not be ready to jump into action instantaneously. As such, Aston Villa may delay Rashford's debut until after their clash FA Cup fourth-round clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, February 9. However, if Emery is impressed with the star in training, an appearance against Spurs may be on the cards.
