  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Rashford has splashed out £1.5 million on a golf course with the dream of knocking down the clubhouse to build a dream home. The Manchester United ace planned to create a new five-bedroom house complete with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a games room and chill-out area on the 63-acre site, according to The Sun. However, locals have told the tabloid that work on the project appears to be "sporadic" and the site is regularly empty.

    WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

A source told The Sun: "This was Marcus’ dream project. He was really excited at the start. But while the build looks finished, there’s an awful lot of work to be done internally. The gardens need to be completely landscaped and the estimated cost of looking after what used to be the golf course is at least £150,000 a year. There’s a fear that Marcus has bitten off more than he can chew."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rashford has also been struggling on the pitch this season with Manchester United but has shown signs of an upturn in form in recent games. The forward scored and grabbed an assist against Porto in the Europa League and teed up Alejandro Garnacho for an equaliser during United's win over Brentford at the weekend. United will hope Rashford can return to his very best form this season and put aside any potential off-field distractions to help his side recover from a disappointing start to the campaign.

    WHAT NEXT FOR RASHFORD

Rashford will come up against his former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho next when the Red Devils face Fenerbahce in the Europa League. The Red Devils then head to West Ham on Sunday in the Premier League.
