    WHAT HAPPENED?

The Red Devils played second fiddle to Fulham for the bulk of the match and found themselves behind in the 65th minute when Calvin Bassey scored for the Cottagers. Although Erik ten Hag's troops managed to equalize in the 89th minute through Harry Maguire, they were dealt a final blow as Alex Iwobi secured a late victory for Fulham in the 97th minute.

According to The Guardian, after the defeat some of the players went up to the coaching staff and requested a day off despite being aware that the post-match routine includes warm-downs and video analysis sessions.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The players' request for a day off raised eyebrows, considering their lacklustre performance. The coaching staff promptly turned them down, reminding the players of their professional commitments and it is believed that Ten Hag was unaware of this unusual request.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Earlier in November, it was revealed that some players attributed the team's poor start to the season due to overworking during pre-season training. They complained that they were not given enough rest - especially during the busier months - which left them tired even at the start of a campaign.

    WHAT NEXT?

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who holds a 27.7% stake in United through Ineos, is conducting a structural review of the club. Significant changes are underway, including the appointment of Omar Berrada as CEO and the potential recruitment of Dan Ashworth from Newcastle to lead the football department, replacing John Murtough. Murtough is expected to be offered a new role, which he will consider.

Looking ahead, Manchester United faces a tough fixture schedule, with an FA Cup fifth-round match against Forest followed by a crucial Manchester derby against City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The derby presents a significant challenge for United as they seek to bounce back from their recent setback and reclaim momentum in their campaign.
