Man Utd Women player ratings vs PSG: Mary Earps, what were you thinking?! Lionesses star makes glaring error as Red Devils draw first-ever Champions League game

Manchester United will have to beat Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes next week to secure their place in this season's Women's Champions League group stages after fighting back to secure a 1-1 draw in their home leg on Tuesday night. Tabitha Chawinga opened the scoring for the French club, who peppered the home goal for large spells in the first half, but United grew into the game and Melvine Malard got them a deserved equaliser.

PSG will have wondered how on earth they weren't ahead at the break. Chawinga had a shot cleared off the line, Sandy Baltimore had an effort well saved by Mary Earps and Lieke Martens prodded a cross just wide at the near post - and that was all in the opening five minutes. The Parisians kept that pressure on their hosts for most of the first 45 minutes before breaking the deadlock early in the second period, Chawinga latching onto Baltimore's ball over the top and punishing Earps' hesitancy with a cool finish.

But Man Utd were much better from that point on. Geyse, who came on at half time, was outstanding and it was Malard, another sub, that levelled the scores with a close-range finish. The hosts had the momentum from there but couldn't make it count. They still need to win in Paris next week but go there with a real chance of progressing.
