Lionel Messi's Inter Miami reportedly bolster midfield with signing of Venezuela international Telasco Segovia from Casa Pia

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Inter Miami are reportedly set to complete the transfer of Venezuela international Telasco Segovia from Portuguese club Casa Pia to their squad. The 21-year-old will cost a fee of $2.5M, with Casa Pia retaining a 50 percent sell-on clause.

    Segovia has eight caps with La Vinotinto, where he's scored one goal, and has also spent time with Sampdoria in Serie A, as well as with Venezuelan side Deportivo Lara.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Segovia primarily plays as a central midfielder, but can also feature as an attacking midfielder in the center of the pitch. In 15 appearances for Casa Pia this season, he has scored two goals.

    At Miami, he will join a midfield core already featuring the likes of Sergio Busquets, Federico Redondo, Benjamin Cremaschi, David Ruiz, and Yannick Bright, among others beneath them in the pecking order.

    The Herons are undergoing a rebuild under new manager Javier Mascherano, already transferring star winger Diego Gomez to Premier League side Brighton, while adding MLS veteran Fafa Picault as a free agent and signing forward Tadeo Allende on loan from Celta Vigo.
