Lionel Messi sends call to ex-Argentina teammate Marcos Rojo! Inter Miami star looking to lure former Man Utd player to South Beach

Hernan Castillo reports that the Argentine, along with head coach Tata Martino, placed a call to Rojo asking him to join them in Miami. The ex-Man Utd star left the Red Devils in 2020, and has since been plying his trade with Boca Juniors in Argentina. However, his contract does not expire until December 31, 2025.

Palmeiras are also interested, as the Supercopa Do Brasil Champions look to bolster their squad. Messi, meanwhile, is looking to play a pivotal role in the offseason success of the Herons as both he and the club look to improve their roster after missing out on the 2023 MLS playoffs. Ex-Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez is already set to join him in South Beach.

Rojo made 61 international appearances for Argentina from 2010-2019, scoring three goals along the way. Unfortunately for the former Manchester United man, he was not part of the squad that secured global glory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Argentine's season with Boca Juniors ended in November and he's now in offseason mode. The next match on the calendar for them is February 1, 2024 - a cup contest against Central Norte. There's plenty of time to negotiate an offseason deal that suits both parties, but the Herons will be cautious with their spending ahead of the new campaign.
