GettyWHAT HAPPENED?
The bizarre incident occurred half-an-hour into a contest at Estadio Benito Villamarin. Euro 2024 winner Olmo tangled with former Barca defender Marc Bartra. Spain international Olmo was sent crashing to the turf by a judo-esque hip throw.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
After hitting the ground, Olmo raised his hands to his mouth. The 26-year-old playmaker realised that a cap on his tooth was missing, leading to him scratching around in the grass in a bid to find the missing piece. He duly did and passed it on for safekeeping.
GettyWHAT LAMINE YAMAL SAID
Yamal was among those left slightly baffled by the dental incident, with the teenage wonderkid saying to Pedri during a half-time exchange in the tunnel: “There was no bleeding and he pulled his tooth out. There was no blood coming out. But why did you throw it away?” Pedri replied with: “He had it in his hand and I said: ‘Keep it, give it to someone’.”
WHAT NEXT?
Barca dropped more precious points against Betis, despite leading the contest on two occasions courtesy of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. They conceded an equaliser in stoppage-time and are now just two points clear of Clasico rivals Real Madrid, who boast a game in hand.
