Kylian Mbappe gets his own boot! Nike deliver Player Edition of iconic Mercurial for Real Madrid's World Cup-winning 'Galactico'

World Cup winner Mbappe remains a talismanic presence for France, as he chases down their all-time leading goalscorer record, and is revelling in the status of being another ‘Galactico’ at La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old forward has found the target on 33 occasions for Los Blancos this season, helping them to two trophies in his debut campaign. He will be hoping that there are many more goals to come while donning the Nike Mercurial Kylian Mbappe Player Edition.

Said boots are "built to enable the speed, sophistication and performance of Kylian and his contemporaries at the top of the game". They deliver "the industry-leading performance expected from Mercurial, including a unique three-quarter length Air Zoom unit for springy acceleration and a Gripknit toe that delivers a precise boot-to-ball connection".

Mbappe’s new boots come in a "head-turning Grand Purple colorway that draws on details of five of Kylian’s previous Player Edition models" and will be "available globally in Superfly and Vapor models in late April at nike.com and select retail locations". Nike have worked with Mbappe to celebrate and unlock "his future dominance on the pitch" with a design that is "nimble and ever-evolving".

Mbappe has said: "I feel blessed to have my own design with this new Nike Player Edition model, especially on a boot that’s been with me for almost my entire career. Having my own Player Edition means a lot to me, and it gives me energy to get after the goals I want to achieve.

"It’s pretty fun to see the legacy I have with Nike and the stories that we’ve made together. I have a special history with Mercurial, and on my new Player Edition you can see that long history through all the details from my previous boots."

The Mbappe boot features a "gold-lined logo on the heel that harks back to Kylian’s first ‘Rising Fire’ Player Edition boot, while graphic elements inside the logo recall his 2022 ‘Roots’ model". There is also a nod to Mbappe’s hometown, along with other Mercurial models from 2019, 2020 and 2021. Two stars on the cuff of the Superfly design "represent France’s pair of World Cup wins, and the sock liner includes Kylian’s autograph alongside his timeless quote: ‘Without risk there is no victory’."
