Kylian Mbappe benched again? Luis Enrique offers cryptic response about PSG superstar before Le Classique

Despite being one of Paris Saint-Germain's key players, Mbappe has been intermittently benched by Luis Enrique. His exclusion from the starting lineup against Reims, before the international break, marked the third instance within a month that the 2018 World Cup winner found himself among the substitutes.

With rumours swirling about Mbappe's anticipated move to Real Madrid once his contract with PSG expires, his absence from the starting lineup has garnered significant attention. However, after missing out on a start against Reims, he produced a fine performance when PSG hosted Nice in the French Cup quarterfinal and followed it up with a hat-trick against Montpellier to reassert his authority when he was reinstated to the line-up.

In response to inquiries about Mbappe's involvement against Marseille, Luis Enrique said: "Everything is possible in life. What I am aware of is the importance of Le Classique for our supporters, for the club and this historic rivalry. My desire is that everything goes well, that there is a spectacle and that we see a very good football match between two very good teams. Our goal is to win this match against our eternal rival.”

Addressing concerns about his managerial decisions, Luis Enrique reiterated the need to prioritize the team's interests while acknowledging the inevitability of dissenting opinions.

"As manager of my team and the club, I have to see this match very clearly but also have a general vision of what is best for us, that’s my job," he said.

"I have to make a decision and I will do it thinking about what I consider to be best for the team. This means that there are people who do not agree as always but, of course, we are going to go to Marseille to be competitive and give great joy to our supporters.”
