    THE BIGGER PICTURE

He has registered 31 goals for Bayern in as many appearances, but they are in danger of missing out on the Bundesliga title while also crashing out of the German Cup. Thomas Tuchel's side also face an uphill battle to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

In contrast, a collection of promising youngsters at Liverpool have already got their hands on a winners’ medal – with the likes of James McConnell, Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns figuring in the Reds’ dramatic Carabao Cup win over Chelsea that saw Jurgen Klopp having to manage an injury crisis.

    WHAT SAVAGE SAID

Former Premier League star Savage has been quick to highlight how Kane now sits behind players with a handful of senior appearances to their name when it comes to honours count. The ex-Wales international told Planet Sport Bet: “Liverpool winning their 10th League Cup on Sunday is the greatest achievement they've made under Jurgen Klopp, even bigger than their Champions League victory. In the Champions League final, they were expected to win. On this occasion, with their injuries, I'd say they were near enough underdogs. I just think the fact it was against all odds, with the changes they were forced to make, and the youngsters on the pitch it really is a brilliant achievement. I think when it went to extra-time, half an hour with the players Liverpool had on, Chelsea should've won the game. It was the most remarkable performance by Liverpool, it epitomises everything good in a footballer, the desire shown by the lads on the pitch was excellent. Jayden Danns has won more than Harry Kane!”

  • WHAT NEXT FOR KANE & BAYERN?

Bayern will get the chance to keep their silverware hopes alive over the course of the next week. A Bundesliga trip to Freiburg on Friday – which could see them close the gap on leaders Bayer Leverkusen – is followed by a Champions League last-16 home date with Lazio next Tuesday that will require a 1-0 aggregate deficit to be overturned.
